Overview

Mexican Catrina, la calavera, is dressed for a party in her sheer turquoise blue sparkly dress. Her long fingers and red painted nails stand out. Her make up is perfect for any celebration especially the Celebration of Life.

The Catrina Image first depicted in an etching by artist Jose Guadalupe Posada in the early 1900's. Catrina quickly became a part of the Day of the Dead ceremonies showing the macabre humor the Mexicans have for Life, Death and the whole circle of our existence.

Description

Catrina stands 15" tall to the tip of her hat. She is attired in a turquoise blue sheer dress made of netting with blue ribbons and sparkles. Note the skeletal bones showing in her facial features and detailed make up including her long fingers and painted nails. Created in paper mache by an artist in the area around Guadalajara, Mexico. No two Catrinas are alike, similar but different, since each is hand made individually.
